Acura got some positive attention at last month's North American International Auto Show in Detroit for finally showing a new car that wasn't the second-generation NSX. The Acura Precision Concept marked the debut of a new design direction for Honda's premium brand that finally dispenses with the last vestiges of the unloved “keen edge” look that debuted back in 2008. Next month at the New York Auto Show, Acura will show the first production application of this new philosophy.

Unfortunately, those looking forward to driving the sleek four-door coupe we saw in Detroit will have to keep waiting as the big MDX crossover will be the first Acura to get this new style. For now all we have is a teaser image of the 2017 MDX, but we don't expect any radical new changes under the skin. Acura's best-selling SUV will continue to be built at Lincoln, Alabama assembly plant along with the Honda Pilot.
