For at least the last seven or eight years one of the features of the Volkswagen stand at the Detroit Auto Show, has been a plastic injection molding machine. The machine takes in lumps of plastic resin and turns them in to translucent plastic shells shaped like Volkswagen cars. Each year they have a different model, and in the past they've done Beetles, Golfs and Passats. I still have a blue Beetle stashed away somewhere around here. This year they were turning out red GTIs and one of the guys from Winding Road caught the action on video.
