In fact, after last year&#x27;s debut of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/tag\/x5+m\">X5 M<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/bmw\/x6+m\">X6 M<\/a> we would have been quite shocked to see anything but the V8. While the 500 horsepower V10 in today&#x27;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/bmw\/m5\/\">M5<\/a> is indeed powerful, in the years since its debut a number of even more powerful and, perhaps more importantly, torquier competitors have arrived.<\/p>\n<p>The supercharged 6.2-liter V8 in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/cadillac\/cts-v\">Cadillac CTS-V<\/a> and the turbocharged V10 in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/make\/audi\/\">Audi<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/audi\/rs6\/\">RS6<\/a> easily thrash the output of the Munich V10.
