Both SUVs will mark the debut of a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/hybrid\/\">hybrid<\/a> drive system co-developed by the two brands. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/porsche\/cayenne\/\">Cayenne<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/volkswagen\/touareg\/\">Touareg<\/a> will both enter production about the same time after their debut at the show.<\/p>\n<p>The SUVs will be using a version of the supercharged 3.0-liter TFSI V6 found in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/audi\/s4\/\">Audi S4<\/a> with 325 horsepower and 324 pound-feet of torque. The crew at <em>Autocar<\/em> had a chance to ride along in a near-production Cayenne S hybrid recently and felt this machine could be a serious challenger to the new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/mercedes_benz\/\">Mercedes-Benz<\/a> ML450 hybrid and even the class-leading <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/make\/lexus\">Lexus<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/model\/RX450h\">RX450h<\/a>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoblog.com\/porsche\/\">Porsche<\/a> hybrid felt nearly as quick as the V8-powered standard Cayenne S although the vehicle wasn&#x27;t instrumented.
